FAQ

Wet your hair and the bar.

Massage the bar directly onto your scalp and hair to build a lather. For long hair, gather hair at the top of your head and lather thoroughly.

Rinse with warm (not hot) water for the best outcome.

Optional ACV Rinse: After shampooing, mix 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of warm water, apply to your hair, let it sit for a minute, then rinse. This leaves hair manageable and shiny.

*Avoid contact with eyes. Product will not cause damage to the eyes but will sting! Rinse thoroughly if shampoo makes contact with eyes.

For hard water, try a baking soda rinse before shampooing. Mix 1/2 tbsp of baking soda with 1 cup of warm water, apply to dry hair, then lather up with J.R.LIGGETT’S shampoo bar and rinse. Hard water is primarily an issue during lathering, but fine for rinsing.

Switching to a natural shampoo bar can lead to an adjustment period as your scalp balances oil production and sheds chemical buildup from liquid shampoos. An ACV rinse after shampooing can speed up this process and help with conditioning.

No. Our shampoo bars are versatile enough for body washing, shaving, dish cleaning while camping, and even brushing your teeth when paired with baking soda.

Liquid shampoos strip natural oils, causing imbalance in oil production. Our shampoo bars help normalize this, promoting healthier, natural hair without the need for plastic bottles. Each bar provides as many uses as a 24 oz bottle of liquid shampoo!

Our products are free of:

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Parabens, Sulfates

Synthetic fragrances, preservatives, artificial colorants

Animal products, soy, gluten, GMOs, dairy, and nut oils (some formulas)

Yes, they are vegan and gluten-free. Our Original and Herbal formulas contain no nut oils. The Moisturizing formula is also sunflower oil-free for those with sunflower allergies.

We use a natural process called saponification, creating a luxurious lather from coconut oil without SLS.

Yes, it’s safe for most color-treated hair. However, henna and very dark reds may experience slight fading.

We do not use GMOs or Palm Oil. We removed Palm Kernel Oil from all products as of 2018 to support sustainable sourcing.

The bars keep best if allowed to dry between uses, and we suggest using our wooden shampoo shelf for this purpose. Over time, air and temperature can affect the bar’s fragrance, texture, and color. Eventually, it may harden and darken, but it will remain usable. Made from natural oils, each bar has a lifespan similar to other natural products—alive with freshness, and then naturally fading with time.

We recommend a one-year expiration to our resellers to ensure fresh stock. However, the shampoo will stay fresher, longer if kept cool. For long-term storage, freezing the bars is ideal, as this effectively halts the aging process. Once thawed, they’re as fresh and effective as when first purchased.

We prioritize organic, sustainably produced ingredients wherever possible, like jojoba, hemp seed, argan, and virgin coconut oils.

Yes, our packaging is made from 100% recycled paper, which is recyclable and fully biodegradable.
