Saponified Olive Oil
The remarkable benefits of olive oil have been known for thousands of years. It is a natural conditioner that makes hair shiny and soft, and is loaded with antioxidants to keep your scalp healthy. Olive oil fights hair loss by helping control dandruff, fungi, and bacteria. It prevents hair follicle shafts from narrowing by preventing DHT hormone production, letting you hold onto your hair longer. It can also improve blood circulation to the scalp and stimulate hair follicles, giving you thicker, healthier strands.
Coconut Oil / Virgin Coconut Oil
The main component behind our luxurious lather, coconut oil works wonders on the hair and scalp. The fats present in coconut oil retain the moisture content of the skin, and help eliminate further losses. The antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal properties found within protect from microbial infections than can enter through the pores. Coconut oil also contains Vitamin E, and is fantastic with skin disorders such as acne, psoriasis, and eczema.
Castor Oil
Native to Africa and India, this oil is well known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It accelerates blood flow to the scalp, thus increasing hair growth. It is very nourishing on the scalp and helps strengthen the roots with essential nutrients.
I wanted to give this 3 hair washes before giving an honest review and I am blown away by the results! I love the texture this shampoo bar gives my hair. I only wish that I would’ve found this sooner!!

I have fine hair, colored half way, upper part including roots is untouched. I bought this shampoo bar during a trip hoping to take a remainder back with me. Unfortunately, this product didn’t work for me and I see several other reviews where people with similar hair types report similar results. The hair was left heavy, greasy, looked even dirtier than before the wash. For other types of hair it seems to work though.
We love this shampoo bar! It’s not only great for the environment (no plastic), but also is the best shampoo product out there. It somehow keeps my and my partner’s hair clean for days, which is amazing. Used to purchase it as needed from a distributing store, but we’re switching to buying directly from JR Liggett to try and support them even more directly.
I am going to order more today. And try one of the other bars, too. With very long and thick hair to try and keep snarl free, I have been amazed by this shampoo bar, which is just awesome! The one bar lasts such a long time, too. No conditioner necessary, and my hair is so soft and shiny, I hope to use this bar for many years.
20 years ago I went into chemo and lost all my hair. My aunt sent me a bar of this shampoo thinking it would be good for my scalp. Well, I am cured of cancer AND still using this shampoo. I used to have flakes and “dandruff.” Since switching to JR Liggett’s, I have never needed any dandruf product. When the conditioner bar came out, I decided to give it a try. Haven’t looked back. Won’t use anything else.
My husband took a while to convince (like 2 months ago). He used dandruff shampoo and tried a lot of things to get rid of flakes. Then he got, well, zits, on his head and the dermatologist gave him some stuff. AFTER it bleached out spots on my good towels, I said…”TRY THE JR LIGGETT’S.” He did. His scalp cleared up and no more flakes. No more wrecked towels, either!
The reason I am on the site writing this is because with 2 of us using this shampoo now, I need to order a lot more!

During Covid I decided to stop using my usual bottled shampoo. Like some people here I tried using some no-poo methods but they left my hair dry and brittle. I discovered this shampoo through someone on Instagram and have now used it for the past 3 years! Honestly the best shampoo I have used my entire life, not just because it is better for the environment. My hair has always been thin and flat. I used everything from expensive shampos to drug store shampoos and nothing has made my hair feel as full and healthy as this shampoo does. Saying that this shampoo is the best is a hill I would die on.
I am a cosmetologist and Natural health care practitioner and using products that are organic , eco-friendly etc… has been my aim for 35 years. i purchased every formula for myself and my children who are adults. also do a lot of skin care and reflexology and sound therapy. I advocate healthy products always. I was excited to try the shampoo bars. Here is my review. I have fine, colored hair and the color line I use is Natulique from Denmark a natural eco-friendly line. It made my hair feel very heavy almost like it was still dirty. Needless to say I am very disappointed because I am all for getting rid of bottles. I even have most of my clients on cleansing facial bars from india that are amazing. my daughters have not used thrirs yet . I even got each one a conditioning bar. My grandson”s hair does fine. He has short hair and curly. I will update with my daughters’ assesment. Each one has different hair.
Oh, my goodness, I love this! What I’d do is wet the bar, rub it between my wet palms a few times, and then shampoo my wet hair. Then, to work up a good lather, I’d get my hair a little more wet and boom, foam galore! When you do it this way instead of rubbing the bar directly to your scalp, the shampoo rinses off completely because you’re not overusing it. This is a REALLY good product. I was afraid to use it because my scalp is so sensitive, that anything can cause irritation, but the shampoo hasn’t caused any trouble at all. In fact, my scalp health has completely improved, and my hair is growing strong now! It is much more voluminous and bouncy, where it was previously so thin and limp (probably from all the sulfates and other irritants from the other mainstream shampoos that I used before the switch).
I would like a reply to Valerie T’s 8/30/21 review question: The only part I wonder about are the luttle white microbeads, the size of a small round seed. What are they?
I am using the original bar and also liking it, but will look for something else to avoid microplastics, as eliminating plastic was my main motivation for switching to a bar. My rating would go up to a 5 if I got an answer to this question that confirmed no plastic.

I am not sure what the little white “microbeads” are but I suspect that they are simply hardened
oils from the saponification process. They certainly are not plastic, this simply would not be possible.
We are very eco-conscious, completely detergents free, and have never been a proponent of plastic, most certainly
not in any of our products. Please rest assured that our shampoo bars are made from only the finest, natural,
