Tried this because I’m trying to live more low-waste and use cleaner ingredients in my hair. My hair usually gets oily within 2 days of my last wash but with this shampoo I felt really greasy at the top of my head just later the same day which was really disappointing. It also made my ends feel dry and look frizzy which was unflattering. Can’t beat the price though so maybe this would work for those with really short hair? My hair is at a bob length and it did not work for me.

Why isn’t the shampoo bar working well for me?
Many people find that there is a transition period after switching to bar shampoo. Your hair and scalp can go through an adjustment period where they learn to balance oil production again, and rid themselves of years of accumulated detergents and chemicals.
An ACV (apple cider vinegar) wash can be used to speed up this process, and as a conditioner when needed. Mix about a tablespoon of ACV with about a cup of warm water.
After shampooing and rinsing, apply the ACV wash to your hair and let it sit for a couple of minutes, then rinse it out. The smell of vinegar will completely dissipate when your hair is dried. After showering with the ACV rinse, it is often easier to comb your hair than when using commercial leave-in conditioners!

For best results, always wet hair and bar first, then rub the bar directly onto your hair until you get the level of lather you want. For long hair bring the rest of your hair up to the top of your head and lather all together. Scrub hair and scalp thoroughly and immediately rinse. Always rinse with warm, not hot, water.

I am a big fan of the shampoo bars, but this formula isn’t the one for me. I much prefer the jojoba or tea tree varieties for my hair. I have healthy, non-treated, stick straight hair that tends toward oily, and this bar is far too moisturizing. When using this bar, my hair takes longer to blow dry, feels waxy and heavy when it is dry, and leaves a film on my hands when I run my fingers through my hair throughout the day. I am loving it as a body wash, though, and will continue using the other varieties for my hair in the future.

If I could give 14 stars I would! I have normal-to-dry hair, that is wavy and tends toward frizz / flyaways, and I am getting a ton of kinky / wiry grays. My hair has never been happier and I don’t think it has looked this healthy in years. And it FEELS so good! It just feels so clean without feeling stripped.
Because my hair is sort of naturally wavy, it sort of doesn’t know what it wants to be. Moisturizing shampoos make it flat and heavy/straight. Volumizing shampoos make it just sort of wild and untamed, but not in a good way. This shampoo makes my hair full and have body, without being weirdly curly and bushy. I LOVE IT SO SO SO MUCH!!
I did and do use conditioner – the same conditioner I always do – because my fine hair gets tangled super easily. But I am eager to try your conditioner too. I am really trying to minimize my plastic consumption which is what drove me to buy this in the first place, but I am hooked now because it is so amazing. Win win! Thank you!!

Neato shampoo bar! Good product low price for bargain indeed. I find that using this shampo is bet for my hair than other contractional shampops. In morning, when sun shine, I awake to get coffee and find that notting wake me up better than morn coffee and shower with this wonderful product. Coffee then shampoo then work. I have been using the shampoo bars for over 15 years. My dandruff problem was extremely bad. All store products made the problem worse. When I found this natural bar shampoo, I tried it and my scalp responded within a couple of weeks to the the natural ingredients. I have used nothing else since and have never had a dandruff problem again. I have used several of the different formulas and have had the same results. If you have scalp problems I would highly recommend trying this product. Try it for at least a month and see the results for yourself.

I tried a lot of good rated alternative products but no one worked by itself for me, I still had to add the onion and garlic, so, once, shopping in whole foods, I saw this bar, and I just recalled that a lot of decades ago, when the hairs used to be healthier, people used to wash their hair with this kind of bars, so I decided to give it a try, and surprise! It leaves my hair so soft, healthy from the scalp to the ends, I’m so happy using it, I’m thinking maybe I was allergic to detergents in shampoos, no matter if was the toxic Pantene and all those toxic drugstore shampoos or EWG suggested shampoos, no one has worked for me.

Just tried this. Have tried clay shampoos and very drying. The Herbal shampoo bar is excellent. Absolutely no conditioner is required. If you require suds, it suds up. Now I have an answer to all the plastic bottles I’m tired of buying. No more!

Great for Curly Hair
I’ve been wanting to cut down on plastic waste for a while now and thought I’d see if shampoo bars actually live up to the hype, and let me say, this shampoo bar exceeded my expectations. I have long, naturally curly hair and I was worried that washing without conditioner would dry it out, but not so! The best natural soap – but not on my hair
Honestly I feel everyone on the dryness and frizziness — I think maybe it’s just because my hair is really kinky, but there are other 100% natural products out there for us kinky curly folks.
However, this bar of soap is by FAR, no question the SINGLE BEST thing I have ever used to wash my face. it’s better than Herbivore’s bar soap facial cleanser (and cheaper too!). It’s better than micellar water. I used it on my face when I accidentally forgot my face wash on vacation, thinking that the ingredients were natural enough that I could get away with it for a few days – now I don’t wash my face with anything else. And I have particularly dry skin – this doesn’t strip it at all. Cannot recommend using this as a face wash enough.

I have no words to explain how much I love these bars. I love washing my hair with this, it creates such a soft and thick lather and the hair is just… feeling amazing! Bouncy, clean, shiny, feels thicker as well. Also, gets oily much later then with my natural liquid shampoo and the scalp is not dry or itchy at all. I feel like my hair and scalp have been normalized. I am amazed by this shampoo revelation.
This particular Herbal bar doesn’t smell anything like Lavender though. It kinda of smells like dried tea herbs. I’ve had it for 3 months and still keeps going, even if the bar itself is pretty small.

My Forever Shampoo
Tried this out because: 1. no plastic packaging, and 2. no mysterious ingredients. It took a couple weeks for my body to adjust, but once it did, this bar became the shampoo I’ve been searching for all my life. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It does make my hair feel and look a little drier and frizzier than conventional shampoos, but honestly, that’s just how hair is without chemical-laden products, so I do use a conditioner (Derma E Scalp Relief, if you’re curious.) The combination is great.

Perfect Natural Shampoo Bar!!!!!!!!
I have been trying to go all natural with my hair care but couldnt find anything that was both gentle enough without conditioner but strong enough to leave my hair feeling clean. This shampoo bar is amazing! My dry ends got the moisture they needed and my hair feels clean. Your hair might need some time to adjust if you havent already detoxed the build up in your hair, I’m not sure because I was already using a ‘nopoo’ method. If you have hard water you might want to wet your hair with distilled water with a little baking soda first (about 1tsp per 2cups) and then lather and rinse with regular water– its so worth it! My hair feels amazing

I have long, straight hair that it oily at the roots and dry at the ends IE it’s tough finding a product that works, never mind one that is environmentally friendly, cruelty-free, and all natural. This is the best shampoo bar I ever used. I love the scent of the herbal bar and after trying all the other ones I find that this is the best one for cutting through hard water. It is the only shampoo of any variety that has managed to tame my frizz. It also acts as a great all over soap if you are travelling and want to cut down on all the products you are carrying.
